I look at this little babe, and though it feels like he's always been a part of our lives...it seems insanely ridiculous to think he is 14 months old -- will we ever have a sense of reality of time where our babies are concerned? Will time ever be slow enough?
This boy is a little cuddle bug...very very busy, but does love to sit and cuddle almost anytime you're willing to hold him! He is mildly obsessed with books these days - always bringing them over to you to read - or climbing into his little black chair - or anywhere, for that matter -- to look at his books! I wouldn't say he's 'laid back' - very happy and content, but not 'laid back'. He pretty much entertains himself, and is really a pretty easy baby. He's a great sleep - sleeps 12-14 hours at night (I know, that sounds crazy!) - and naps about 3 hours - usually one nap, unless he wakes up too early then I put him for two naps. Lately he's been waking up close to 10:00 on a lot of mornings - perhaps a growth spurt?? This babe was almost 20 pounds last time he was weighed (about a month ago) - finally back on the 'growth chart' - almost up to the 10th percentile. I don't actually care about that anymore - his doctor was a little concerned for awhile, but -- he's healthy. Just small. He's very persistent - intense - focused. Not sure of the exact word, but -- very difficult to distract. If he has his mind set on something (a certain toy, what he wants/doesn't want to eat, going up the stairs), he puts up a good fight/cry...but we are trying to stay strong and let him know who's boss! :) He loves to sing - and dance! He loves the piano. He is a milk-guzzler - the kid is intense, to say the least, when he is drinking his milk from his sippy cup...very focused! He's a decent eater - not overly picky, just...easily bored, I guess. The more ethnic and flavorful, the better...meat and potatoes doesn't really seem to be his thing! He throws his cup constantly - and it drives me crazy! If we tap his hand or speak firmly to him...he turns his head away and refuses to look at us - his lip quivers...and he often works himself up into a frenzy - a very sensitive little heart. He adores Jonah -- no-one can make him laugh like Jonah can! He is walking everywhere these days -- its just really started the last few weeks - and he seemed to catch on really quickly! Super cute. He hates hats -- I don't think he's worn one on his head for longer than 2 minutes at any given time. He always pulls it off. He doesn't play outside much - too cold. But he does love to be outdoors! He's great in the car -- we moved him into the next phase of car seats a few weeks ago - he can see more now, and is even that much happier to be in the car. He's generally pretty quiet - just happy and content. But he's not quite the 'charmer' his brother was at his age -- he doesn't just give his smiles and cuddles to just anyone! He is a real fan of Mammie these days - as soon as he sees her, he reaches to her. And he hates when anyone leaves - always reaches out and cries, trying to cling to whoever happened to be holding him. He's quite a fan of Aunt Erin, too - and Danny -- Danny makes him work a little harder for his affections, but he's not giving up! Like I mentioned earlier...'persistent.'! He's quite into playing with Jonah's mini hockey sticks lately - always holding one or two and hitting the ball (or any other toy) around - and loves playing with the big ball, too, rolling it back and forth. He hates socks - I basically don't put them on him anymore unless its absolutely freezing, or we're going out somewhere. He just pulls them off anyways! He loves bread. We sometimes hide it if there's something else we're trying to get him to eat, 'cause once he spots the bread, he doesn't want to eat anything else. He seems to have some issues with certain textures when eating - I tried to give him boiled egg yesterday, and he just opens his mouth and lets it slide off his tongue - not having it!!!
This is Levi in a nut-shell. I remember in those beginning weeks that he was alive, wondering if I would connect with him the way I did with Jonah. It took a little longer than I had expected, but...this little boy has just crawled right into our hearts -- we all adore him - he is a little tease, just a funny, sweet, cuddly, busy, darling little boy...I thank God for him every single day - remembering what a huge answer to so many prayers he is. And I love watching these two little brothers - what a gift!
Happy 14 months, Levi Wilson. You make me a happy little Mama, indeed.
